WHERE:
Community Church of Durham (17 Main Street)LED BY: Sarah Jane Knoy & Martin Toe
We welcome Sarah Jane Knoy and Martin Toe, longtime New Hampshire leaders and organizers with the Granite State Organizing Project. Their commitment is to developing leaders for organizing and social change around the issues and concerns that hit hardest: poor housing, safety and access in schools, barriers to citizenship, unjust working conditions and costly healthcare.
We'll explore ways our Durham congregations can claim "a collective voice" and collaborate for the common good. The workshop will include core commitments of community organizing, diverse traditions within the broader field and practical steps to forming a Durham team.
GRANITE STATE ORGANIZING PROJECT
The
Granite State Organizing Project is New Hampshire’s largest faith-based, grass-roots, community organization. GSOP unites faith and secular communities in strengthening our collective voice in decisions that affect our communities by
taking action on issues such as poor housing, failing schools, barriers to citizenship, unjust working conditions, and costly health care that put our neighborhoods at risk. We work together for a just society.
GSOP seeks to strengthen communities, empowering them to find their voice and effect change. The work is rooted in accepting, respecting, and valuing each other. GSOP comprises many faith communities, labor unions, community groups, and individuals who care deeply that justice and equity is available to all.
No cost! Just come and participate!
